So after nearly a year after getting my license, and just over a year of owning it, I got rid of my VW Bora. As a first car it wasn't bad.

But this is one hell of a step up. BMW 320d, I love the damned thing. Got a fair deal for it, but its such a good quality car. Only turned 3 last Tuesday too. I feel so much more confident driving in it too as I know what it will do, whereas the Bora had some issues when trying to put power down and the shifts were a bit loose. It also has parking sensors, which are great because I'm useless at judging distance. No more tow-bar assisted reversing!
And I may be up for promotion in work. I've heard this all before, so I have salt ready for liberal pinching, but it would be nice to get some recognition of the fact the team cant survive without me.

This game is bloody fantastic.
Its GTA without the shitty slowdown, targeting, punishing game mechanics or stupid inclusion of real life annoyances.
Its Crackdown with more abilities.
Its hilarious.
10 minutes of APC driving shenanegans and the US military has had to spend $1.4 billion trying to stop me. The huge crowds of civilians make collateral damage in any other game look tame, and you dont get any punishment for killing them either (which is good, because its hard not to because they are everywhere)
Its also a pretty well done PC version, which is nice considering many previously PC centric developers tend to make shitty PC versions of console games :(

Thanks jaxx, never even thought to see if LJ let you rename accounts.

Your rainbow is shaded orange and gray.
What is says about you: You are a strong person. You appreciate tradition and wisdom that comes with age. Others are amazed at how you don't give up. You depend on modern technology and may feel uncomfortable without it.

I took my nans new dog (a Westie) for a walk today because she is out all day so he obviously needed feeding and taking to do his business. It was raining a bit but I still took him on the route I used to take her old dog; round the greener areas and back via the canal.
He's great off the leash she said, so when I got to the fields just before the canal path I let him off, and he runs around like a crazy dog and does actually come back when you call him, great. We get to the canal, and I decide not to leash him because he's been fine so far, and whenever he goes near the edge he never looks interested in the water and comes back whenever I call.
Until he spots a duck on the bank. He makes a mad dash for it, but it jumps into the water to escape. He runs to where it entered the canal, looks at me, then makes a blind leap into the water. He must have immediately decided water was a bad thing, because he just spun round in the water and began paddling straight back to the side with a scared look in his eyes.
Now UK canals have decently heigh edges, so I had to get on my hands and knees and lean over, grab him by the collar and yank him up and out. I wish I had taken my phone with me so I could have gotten a picture, but he looked like a little white mop. Other than being soaked, he was fine and just as over-eager as ever, and I gave him a good towelling when I got him home.
He still didn't poop, though. And christ was I wet and dirty when I got home.
But at least I know he can swim now.

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Long tongue is long.

That was hell. Felt sick all the way down to london (nearly 4 hours on trains), got into the hotel and then just emptied my stomach :(
Thank god I did that, though. Felt fine immediately afterwards, and managed to stay that way all the way through the assessment. Having a battery of arbitrary management tests done on you (including a role play with two people watching while you have a meeting with an actor who plays one of your dysfunctional members of staff) is bloody stressful. Hope I passed, dont want to have to do that again :(
This makes me giggle like crazy. I grew up watching the Adam and Joe show, so its great to see them still at it :D

Apparently the idiots in charge have decided, in their wisdom, to allow everyone to take leave at the same fucking time.
So, its just me and myself in for the next week (at least, the guy due back the soonest does fuck all but is managements golden boy). This is going to be fun, I might just unplug my phone and go at a snails pace. Ill be the only person in capable of doing the work that this whole team exists for, yet there will be 5 other people in who will just be sitting there 'managing' and more than likely giving me more work or just slowing me down.
Cock.
